The Beginning…
Founded in 2005 by Bishwanath, Shobha Art & Crafts began with a single printing table and one artisan. Motivated by a passion for creativity, Bishwanath initially sought job work in the local market but soon realised it wasn't the right fit. Turning to designers, he started job work with the prominent Mr. Tarun Tahiliani in 2006, later collaborating with Rohit Bal, Malini Romani, and others, gaining valuable experiences. During this period, Bishwanath's wife joined the venture, and together, they decided to focus on wholesale. Collaborations with brands such as Biba, Charming, and others ensued, along with supplying products to various online stores. With the onset of the pandemic, the couple made the strategic decision to launch their online e-commerce store, allowing them to connect directly with customers.
Abbaran as a label
"Abbaran," which means 'to cover,' embodies a commitment to providing coverings or garments. The brand specialises in crafting delicate traditional designs using a variety of fabrics to give them a modern aesthetic. The approach involves utilising ancient traditional Indian block printing on woven fabrics and preserving traditional crafts. The result is a collection of soft, comfortable outfits tailored to fit everyone's lifestyle. Notably, 60-80% of Abbaran's products feature Hand Block Printing, incorporating innovative techniques such as merging blocks with foil, serving as the unique selling proposition (USP). The brand adheres to Ancient Block Printing and hand painting techniques, alongside Digital Printing, to create a diverse clothing range. The product line includes Salwar-Kameez Suit Sets, Anarkali Sets, Light Printed Lehengas, Kurta/Dupatta Sets, Loungewear, Garara Sets, Western Wear, and more
