Shweta Agarwal
Shweta Agarwal, a fashion designer educated in Milan, embarked on a year-long journey across Indian villages after graduating. This immersive experience allowed her to connect with local artisans and deeply understand Indian textiles before she founded Āroka. As the label’s creative director, she leads design, content direction, and production. Shweta has also been a key faculty member at Istituto Marangoni for over three years.

The Beginning…
After completing her education, Shweta Agarwal embarked on a transformative journey across India, working closely with artisans for a year. Fueled by this inspiration, they founded Āroka, a brand that embodies their shared vision and commitment to preserving traditional craftsmanship while infusing it with modern sensibilities. This began a fulfilling career dedicated to creating exceptional designs that resonate with people worldwide.

Āroka, derived from Sanskrit meaning "light shining through woven cloth," celebrates the imperfections and spaces within us that define our identity. The ready-to-wear, inclusive, slow fashion brand has garnered recognition in 20+ leading newspapers and magazines like Elle, Vogue, and Harper's Bazaar for its designs, values, and campaigns. With a commitment to outgrowing social norms, Āroka has worked with 200+ artisans over the years. The label’s mission is to empower Indian artisans, promote Indian crafts and textiles worldwide, and create a community space for radical thinkers to contribute and create. Through its trans-seasonal, gender-neutral, and inclusive collections, Āroka intertwines clothes with emotions, aiming to move people and connect deeply with their passion.
