The beginning…
Gush was launched in 2013, by Vrinda and Manav, with an aim to make something that would last, was crafted and produced in India and embraces artisanal skills and traditions to create exceptional fashion. As young entrepreneurs, the designer-duo felt the desperate need to help Indian artisans so that the art form of handcrafted shoe making was kept alive. They gathered a group of 5 artisans and gave them a clean space to work in with the necessary resources to make handcrafted shoes.
Gush
GUSH denotes the universal feeling of effusiveness or exaggerated enthusiasm. The label interprets local aesthetics with a modern twist, using carefully handpicked materials and traditional 'karigari' or skills. The products are cruelty free, PETA approved and connect with people no matter where in the world they are placed. The Indian-ness of GUSH lies in the shoemaking process, where materials pass through the hands of various skilled craftsmen, promoting the Indian tradition of handcrafting and in turn creating unique pieces. The designs are effortless, ageless and seasonless, making them universally stylish but rooted in culture.
