Swati Vijayvargie
Swati Vijayvargie was born and brought up in the culture-rich city of Jaipur in Rajasthan. Her love for traditional color palettes, Indian textiles and paintings is what led her to pursue a career in fashion, and eventually launch her eponymous label in 2012. Being surrounded by various aspects of Indian culture, Swati derives inspiration from their elements to design spectacular garments for the women of today.

The beginning...
The designer graduated with a degree in Fashion Design from the prestigious institute NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology). Right out of college, she went on to hone her skills under the guidance of leading designers like Raghuvendra Rathore and Kavita Bhartiya. Venturing into the family business of home textiles and rugs, she received an award for Best Woman Entrepreneur from FORHEX ( Federation of Rajasthan Handicraft Exporters ). This gave her a chance to explore the rich heritage of Indian crafts and textiles and work with lots of dyers, printers, weavers and embroiders of India. But her love for garments pushed her to start her own clothing line for women in the year 2012, with her debut collection at Lakme Fashion week.

Creating her own textiles was an asset when she decided to specialize in thread-resist shibori patterns and creating surface textures using different tie-dye, printing and embroidery techniques in luxe, pure fabrics. The collections designed are Indian X Modern: clean, classic and minimalistic using traditional textiles and techniques with a fresh approach and global appeal.

Mauj - This collection has been the label’s breakthrough collection. It’s an amalgamation of crafts, embroideries, and textiles they work with. Shibori, applique work, patchwork, Marodi and Danka work of Rajasthan and lots of color blocking and layering.
