Unit by RAJAT SURI

Rajat Suri, the name behind Unit, is a young madcap with a hunger to change sartorial stereotypes. UNIT is a Delhi based privately funded venture formed by an independent and ambitious designer, Rajat Suri. Before starting his own label, the designer has worked with renowned names in the industry like Raghuvendra Rathore, H2O Cue. Launched in 2009, its strength lies in creating new age men's wear.

UNIT has worked towards creating a niche in the menswear segment and has been acknowledged in the industry for its exclusivity of design and originality of product. The designer borrows the metallic patterns that have been in vogue in women's fashion for some time and incorporated them rather boldly on solemn blazers and Nehru jackets. The collection which focused on men's formal and club wear in materials - cotton, silk and other natural fabrics which were put through experimental processes to change their original character. Sharp, sleek and stylishly cut silhouettes graced the runway as waistcoats, kurtas, bandhgala jackets, trench-coat like ethnic pieces along with classic western wear, comprising tuxedo jackets and shirts. Timeless shades of night blue, crisp white, ochre, purple and black were heavily accentuated with meticulous quilting which enveloped the forms and added just the right touch, that of an otherworldly elegance. A piece which stood out was a black suit adorned with gold metal detailing also flaunting a quote.
