Shalini James is recognized for treasuring heritage textiles and reviving them with contemporary aesthetics to mold them into modern times. Her brand Mantra introduced the ‘Indian by Choice’ line that gave the Kerala-based designer a scene-stealing spot at Amazon India Fashion Week. The designer has a penchant for reviving handloom weaves, aari, and zardozi embroideries on saris and salwar-kurta sets.
