Kunza designer collection on Pernia’s Pop-Up Shop
Kunza is a contemporary ethnic wear label based out of Delhi, established in 2016 by Divya Bhatia. Divya Bhatia is a graduate from the prestigious National Institute of Fashion Technology, who then went on to the Parsons School of Design in New York. After her studies, she worked under Shantanu & Nikhil - one of the leading names in Indian fashion. The workings of a design house and design sensibility is what the Kunza designer learnt during her time with the label, and she also got the confidence to launch her own label. Apart from this, she learnt a few marketing techniques that she says helped her in the business of designing.
Divya has also worked with international designers like Phillip Plein & Zac Posen in New York before returning to India. The name Kunza means hidden treasure. The label draws upon old crafts techniques, textiles, and embroidery to preserve age-old Indian practices while also modernising them for the women of today. This approach has led to Kunza’s success and continues to set new limits for itself. The silhouettes are simple but in line with the current trends. Impeccable detailing and versatility is what the brand really stands for, and this can be well noticed in their designer collections.
