How did your career begin?
Amit Aggarwal's ideas about form and structure were shaped while growing up in a family of engineers and scientists. He has always been greatly inspired by science, which is evident in his design ideology today. In his early career, he worked with leading fashion houses. In 2008, he became the creative director of an independent venture that led to him receiving the Debutant of the Year award by Vogue and Elle. All these experiences culminated into the creation of his eponymous label Amit Aggarwal in 2012.
A Brief introduction about your brand/label?
The brand has an established tradition of creating designs inspired by natural forms and articulating them through unique silhouettes. Amit Aggarwal believes in making clothes sculpted to enhance the elegant form of a body. Each ensemble is an amalgamation of femininity and structural movement. The label encompasses 3 lines; Couture, Luxury Prêt and AM.IT. While the couture label blends organic & industrial materials using techniques with a modern outtake, the luxury prêt line is an interpretation of voluminous shapes and surface details from couture translated into western wear. AM.IT combines effortless shapes and design elements from couture, driven by sustainable materials. Amit Aggarwal envisions the new-age woman as independent and bold in her choices. Both traditional and modern craftsmanship using unique materials allows the wearer to effortlessly carry the grandeur of the garment.
