NADIMA SAQIB
For Nadima, needlework was a part of her curriculum in convent school. As a child, she realised that this is what she wanted to do in life so while other children her age would opt for basketball or computer classes during school vacations, she opted for machine embroidery courses and hand zardosi embroidery classes. Hence, in each of her collections, embroidery plays a vital role.

The beginning…
In her college days, her friends would ask her for suggestions to get their outfits stitched and her aunts would make her run to a nearby tailor to have their clothes designed perfectly. Everyone from her aunts, cousins, friends to family members requested her to design their clothes for scratch, and that is how she started her part time business by opening up a small workshop in her dad’s basement. Nadima started working formally at the age of 18 itself.
A Brief introduction about your brand/label?
The label believes embroidery to be an art form, hence the silhouettes are traditional and work on reviving old and dying art forms like hand zardosi, jali work, knot-stitch with parsi gara work, velvet embroidery, etc. Nadima Saqib started as a label in order to support a lot of Indian craftsmen who were being rendered jobless by the day as a lot of fusion wear in the market started creeping in and clothes from the west started filling closet spaces.
