Having nurtured a love for fashion from an early age, collecting traditional crafts from across India and curating bespoke artisan pieces to add to my personal collection, Sonal Jain’s penchant for science was always wary of the chemicals used in apparels and the harmful effects they have on skin and health in the long run. "A scientific mind tempered with an artistic nature is how I would describe my journey so far", Sonal states.

The beginning…
In 2014, Sonal decided to share her love for fashion with the world in the form of the Kritika Universe and owing to her science conscious sensibilities, fusing artisanal crafts with organic, natural elements was an obvious choice. The brand prominently draws inspiration from an organic lifestyle, one of effortless fashion with high design, creating pieces in natural silks, linen and more.

Kritika Universe takes a keen eye not only to appreciate the fine craftsmanship that comes from these regions but to spin them to suit the modern needs while retaining their essence. Kritika Universe is a bridge-to-luxury brand that curates various skills that handcraft the most exquisite Fashion Accessories. We work closely with National and International award-winning artisans, fusing traditional crafts with contemporary design, with a global aesthetic. At Kritika Universe, we craft, create & curate fashion accessories, like scarves and mystic jewellery that make for stylish and versatile pieces.

"Ahimsa Alive: our range of Ahimsa or non-violent silk scarves is a collection that holds true to our philosophy and is close to our hearts," says Sonal. Unlike traditional silk which requires the killing of the silkworm to obtain their coveted fibres, the range of Ahimsa silk scarves does NOT involve killing or harming or the worms in any form. The broken cocoons are collected and handwoven into scarves, giving them their characteristic texture. The pieces are then dyed in natural dyes like turmeric, tea, lac, onion peel, etc. to produce vibrant colours and embellished with fine embroidery.
